Through carefully assembling geometric shapes we have created a triptych focussed on balance, composition and form.

Balance

The series was created to explore the notion of balance through the placement of simple abstract geometric shapes. Careful curation of the positive and negative space was central to producing a harmonious flow of shape across the triptych with even distribution of visual weight within the panels.

The composition of the geometric forms ensure the elements continue a dialogue across the panels but maintain their own individual character.

Composition

The composition of elements create a thoughtful arrangement through the use of shape, colour and scale within the forms. These together with balance guide the movement of the viewers eye across the panels in an interplay of light and shade. The balanced composition draws attention to moments within the forms while maintaining coherence and flow.

Form

The forms were devised to enhance the flow around the surface of the panels. The curves guide the viewer across the composition through free-flowing natural contours, the straight lines contrasting the curves create tension and redirection and the circles provide a cul-de-sac like space to gently return the viewer to the path through the arrangement.

The form is a crucial element to the layout of geometric shapes, as they create a sense of space over time. The interplay of light and shadow further enhances the form, emphasizing its solidity in the coloured masses and depth in the blacks and whites.
