Bold colour, form and shape

Placing an emphasis on colour and form we designed a speculative fitout for TE Capital intended to avoid the typical office environment when merging two offices into one in Melbourne's CBD. The refreshed design begins in the lobby with curved walls in Dulux Misty Moss leading to an arched entrance in Dulux terracotta Cuddlepot and a sweeping feature wall in Black Caviar. These rich colours were selected to balance against the raw exposed concrete floor and columns of the buildings base structure.

"A speculative office fitout that feels like a bespoke retail boutique is an unlikely design ambition but in this Melbourne office tower it has been neatly executed, nonetheless." - Dulux Judging Panel

We concentrated the design solution on ensuring the approach to this space didn’t feel like a typical office environment and introduced the rich colour along with design details, form and shape to the cold shell of the space. Pairing these elements together created a memorable and unique space.

Creating a space people want to be in

Central to the design concept was to create a space people wanted to be in. A space more akin to a trendy cafe or retail space below on the streets of the CBD. The Social Hub, bathed in natural light, is finished in Dulux Palace Stone to offset the rich and textured tones of the furniture and joinery.

"We commend the clever instances in which colour has been used to create depth and distinction." - Dulux Judging Panel

All spaces were considered in terms of ensuring a broad range of working opportunities from traditional workstations to the Social Hub. Within the environment of the Social Hub are a number of spaces capable of functioning for retreat and relaxation as well as working. The space is deliberately designed with varying options such as booth seating, lounges and counter seating, as well adjacent meeting rooms all of which have the multiple functions of leisure and work.

Bringing life to the workstation

Aiming to minimise wastage we elected to reuse workstations salvaged from the building. These were arranged in collaborative team configurations and adapted to meet current working expectations. Extensive planting was inserted around the worktops and 'touch-down' points installed at the ends of collaborative groupings.

"Imbuing the interior with a strong colour strategy was key to avoiding a typical corporate aesthetic and we credit the unusual pairings that have been specified." - Dulux Judging Panel

The primary work environment was reworked with feature floor finishes and further embellishments of Dulux Misty Moss and Cuddlepot set to a background of complimentary Palace Stone.
